Relocation coaching for Japan assignments

Your people land in Japan. I help them stay, settle, and perform.

Tam Young Coach provides contracted relocation coaching for employees and clients moving to Japan — the part of the move that logistics can't cover: settling in, family life, work culture, and building a life that lasts beyond the first contract year.

Nagoya-based • Certified coach, 10 years • English and Japanese • Working with assignees, spouses, and families

The problem

Most failed assignments don't fail on paperwork. The visa arrives, the apartment is found, the boxes are unpacked — and then the employee or their family quietly struggles: isolation, school and daily-life friction, a spouse who never settles, a working culture nobody explained. That's when contracts get cut short, at full relocation cost.

Coaching covers the human half of the move — before, during, and after arrival — so the investment you've already made in moving them actually pays off.

What I offer — contracted programmes

Before they move

Preparation coaching for the employee and family: expectations, decision-making, what life in Japan is really like, and a plan for the first 90 days.

First 90 days in Japan

Settling-in coaching through the highest-friction period: daily life set-up, community and connection, work-culture adjustment, family check-ins.

Building the life

Longer-term integration coaching: career development in Japan, spouse and family adjustment, language and culture confidence, and staying well past year one.

Delivered 1:1 by video call, in English (Japanese where it helps), under contract to your company — per-assignee, per-cohort, or retainer.

Who this is for

I don't do visa filing or apartment hunting. I coach the people those services move.
